Named a Top Workplace by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel in 2019, 2020 & 2021
Badger Mutual was founded on March 13, 1887, in the wake of the Great Chicago Fire when insurance was being refused for churches due to the lightning and fire hazard of their steeples. Members of Milwaukee's congregations came together to protect their churches and property and formed The German Mutual Fire Insurance Company, which later became Badger Mutual Insurance.
Today, Badger Mutual is a preferred regional insurance carrier providing personal & commercial insurance in 10 states:
- Wisconsin
- Illinois
- Minnesota
- Michigan
- Iowa
- Arizona
- Nevada
- Idaho
- Utah
- Wyoming
While Badger may continue to grow a bit larger, the “small town” feel will never be replaced. Agents and staff take the time to get to know you and your unique challenges—then customize insurance programs just for you. And should you have a claim, you’ll be talking to real people, not an anonymous 800 number.
